After the successful completion of the Thresholds challenge, helphollyhelp.com is ready for more. Holly Geraci and Peter Francis Geraci challenge St. Martin de Porres to raise $10,000 towards the Help Holly Help Grant challenge.
During the grant challenge period all donations made to the help holly grant challenge, during the challenge period, will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $10,000, by Holly Geraci and Peter Francis Geraci. The challenge starts on April 15 and ends on May 15, 2017.
According to St. Martin de Porres’s site, their mission is to Create “a safe, healing community where women and their children recover from substance abuse, address trauma and deal with mental illness.” St. Martin de Porres’s programs are 100 percent charitable and designed to meet the unique biological, psychological, social, and familial needs of female substance abusers.
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, “It is important to note that treatment for substance use disorders in women may progress differently than for men. Women report using some substances for a shorter period of time when they enter treatment. However, women’s substance use tends to progress more quickly from first use to addiction.”
St. Martin de Porres House of Hope has been providing recovery support for women who are homeless and addicted to drugs and their children for more than three decades. Their program takes a holistic approach to recovery by focusing on the mind, body, and spirit.
